A- GENERAL RULES
Rules are from the Canadian Amateur Softball Association.
However, in case of litigation, the following specific rules will prevail.

B- AGE CUT-OFF DATES
Players must be born on or after January 1st 1991 (PONY)

C- SPECIFICATIONS
1.   If a team decides to back out of the tournament after January 15 2008, there will be no refund
issued to that team. Before that date, a refund minus $25 in Canadian dollars will be issued.
2.   Each team must provide the tournament director with a list of players before the team's first game
in the tournament. This list will remain the same for the entire tournament.
3.   8 players will be in the line-up offensively and defensively. Therefore, a minimum of eight (8)
players ready to play is required for each game.
4.   A maximum of seventeen (17) players per team will be accepted.
5.   Each team, including all players, must be present at the gym 30 minutes before the scheduled
time of the game. If the game cannot start at the umpire's call, the incomplete team will lose the
game by default. The tournament director may allow a delay if she judges it to be justified.
6.   During the round robin, a loss by default will give a 7-0 win to the legitimate team ready to play.
This includes teams deciding to abandon the tournament.
7.   The tournament director can change the schedule of the games in case of too many delays. In that
case, there might be games played in other gyms, and the teams must remain available.
8.   Each team will only have 5 minutes between games to warm up on the gym surface.
9.   All players or coaches ejected from the game by an umpire will be suspended for the current game
and the following game of the infraction. The tournament director has the right to extend the
suspension.
10. If a protest occurs, an amount of $50 CAD or US will be needed for guarantee. The game will
be stopped and the protest committee of the tournament will make a decision. The game will go on
according to the final decision taken without possibility of further appeal.
11. Pitching distance is forty (40) feet, and distance between bases is fifty-five (55) feet.
12. Only 3 pitches between inning; maximum 90 seconds to make the transition between innings. Both
teams must be ready to play 90 seconds after the last out.
13. Ceiling in the outfield is in play.  If the ball hits the ceiling inside the infield, it will be a foul ball.
On a second foul ball of that same nature during the same plate appearance, the batter will be out.
14. If a ball hits a wall, it will be fair or foul depending on where it is. The home plate umpire will
explain the fair ball zone during the pre-game meeting at home plate.
15. If the ball hits an obstacle (basketball net or other), it's a foul ball unless the umpire advises
otherwise in the home plate meeting before the game.
16. A runner can steal a base but not the home plate.
17. An homerun line on the wall will be determined.
18. No runner can be thrown out at first base from right field.
19. A mattress will be placed on each side of home plate for the batter to "leave" its bat after a hit.

D- UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT
1.   The rule of the uniforms, which states that all players must be wearing uniforms of the same
colour, form, and style, will not be followed completely. Only shirts will have to be of the same
colour.
2.   We strongly recommend that catchers wear sweat pants over their shin-guards for better mobility.
3.   It's not a good idea to wear cleats in a gymnasium.
4.   Balls used are leather Indoor 12" (very similar to real balls for pitcher, same weight, etc.)
5.   The helmet is mandatory for the batter, batter on-deck, and the on-base runners.
6.   The following equipment is mandatory for the catchers:
* helmet, mask and throat-protector
* breast protector
* shin-guards

wear caps as per the Canadian rule.
10. Good knee pads are recommended for sliding.

E- THE GAMES
ROUND ROBIN
1.    All games are five (5) innings games but do not have to be finished if the home team is winning
the game after four and a half (4 ½) innings.
2.    A difference of seven (7) runs after three and a half (3 ½) innings if the home team is ahead or
four (4) innings if the visitor team is ahead will end the game.
3.    A difference of fifteen (15) runs after two and a half (2 ½) innings if the home team is ahead or
three (3) innings if the visitor team is ahead will end the game.
4.    If there is a tie after the fifth (5 th) inning, only one additional inning will be played with the
International Tie Breaker rule. If the score is still tied after the sixth (6th) inning, the game will be
over. The additional inning will not have to be completed if the home team makes the victory run.
The final result will count as a win, loss, or tie, but the runs for/against will be calculated from the
score after five (5) innings of play for the general standing.
5.    Each team will play 4 games during the round robin, they will host and visit twice.
6.    Each team must be at the score keeper location 30 minutes before each game to give their line up
card, regardless of the category.

FINAL ROUND
1.    International Tie Breaker rule will apply starting on the sixth (6th) inning.
4.    The home team will be determine by the round robin standing for the quarter final and semi final
games. The toss of the coin will determine the home team only for the final game.  The toss will occur
30 minutes before the game at the score keeper's location.

F- CLASSIFICATION
1.   The final standing of the round robin will be determined with the highest number of points. A win
gives two (2) points, a tie one (1) point and a loss none.

2.   If there is a tie in the standings, the final standing will be determined as follow:
A- head to head
B- the highest number of wins
C- the runs against
